Abolish the police? Abolish prisons? What does that mean?


The concept of abolition is being discussed more often, sometimes as a serious policy platform and other times as a scare tactic. The best way to understand it is to engage with the activists and scholars who engage in abolitionist work. This community is often made up of BIPOC, LGBTQ, and disabled people who suffer the most under the current system of policing and prisons.
